Ooooh! I like the entire "inspired by" series of that artist. Particularly Picasso's "Boy with Pipe".. err.. "Egg". Genius! I bet our dear adamPadam will like it too.

Anyway.. to come to that lollipop: It's a double portrait of Federico da Montefeltro (Duke of Urbino) and his wife Battista Sforza by good old Piero della Francesca.

I like the original very much because of the awkward nose of Montefeltro. It is said that he lost one eye in battle and had parts of his nose removed so that he could still see 180° when on a battlefield. Very Happy

Either he redesigned his page or it has been offline for a while ... or probably I'm mixing something up here, but ... it's there. Astonishing photographer.

Well.. maybe this is a bit far-fetched or maybe I'm just hypersensitive when it comes to gherkins in art, but using them as spectators is a 1980s idea of the ingenious Swiss artist team Fischli & Weiss, imho. However, seeing that Gonzenbach is Swiss too, it is probably a homage rather than plagiarism.

Well, I'd say this falls into the imitation/plagiarism category...and Viner is (rightly) pissed off!

If anyone would like to write nasty notes to W Magazine on his behalf...

How utterly disgraceful of Steven Klein to do such a thing. Even more so because his "interpretations" work neither iconographically nor aesthetically. I'm disgusted.  rage
