'mondays child' is more of an example really as Caesar has done others in this vein. its not just the 'carriage' vs the 'divers helmet' its also the way its automated and has 'arms'. i wasnt saying it was plagiarism, or even imitation but i think you could definitely file it under insperation.

Stayin' on topic with more helmets..

I'm a great admirer of Marina Bychkova's doll sculptures, but as great as this is...

... I just couldn't help being reminded of this:

uhh well i guess so, i think i was more insulted in the fact that you had to diss Roman Dirge along with comparing the two images.

side not: funny that your names Miffy horror, i know there is a model who goes by Miffy but she looks nothing like your icon.

On the subject of branchlike arms, I can't help but think of Svankmajer's Little Otik (oh, that scream, that horrible scream!)

Nice one! I had the very same Recuenco image saved to post here!

I don't really know how to describe Little Otik...it's a deeply odd film. A childless couple finds an anthropomorphic burl and decides to treat it their own child. This clip has some interesting snippets (if you ignore the random music added)

P.S. Yaaay! Treats in the mail!!! poodle

this by Eugenio Recuenco

I might be wrong, but I think Ryden's "Creatrix" was created a year before that Recuenco photograph.

As a matter of fact, I remember having to think of Ryden's "The Debutante" (1998) when I first saw Eugenio's photograph.

I must therefore assume that it was monsieur Recuenco who "borrowed" a bit here and there.

i really rather want to see that film  Shocked i love svankmajer <3

yes-'The Debutante' was the one i originally thought of when i saw Recuenco's (mainly because of the ornate gold frames) but couldnt find it. it seems to be a bit of an amalgamation of the two.

Looks like one of my favourite photographers of all time, Joel-Peter Witkin, has created yet another, anti-Bush version of the often mentioned here, (in)famous "Raft of Medusa" and here's a very interesting little YouTube video interview with him discussing the piece.

hug Thank you for posting this Suzanne!
