La Sylphe indeed!  What a lovely image.

Hm, must have been this woman:
Quote
La Sylphe was an exotic American dancer who became a sensation while performing at the Follies Bergere in the 1890s. Her true name was Edythe Lambelle.
. . . .
A review described her as a young woman who was seemingly made up of muscle but without bones, and who would make an ordinary contortionist turn green with envy at his talk of suppleness. Her mid-waist was covered only by several yards of pearls. On occasion she wore tights or a picketfence skirt and a gossamer bodice.

Found this bendy and stylish gentleman while browsing the adorable e-l-i-s-e blog - where I stumbled upon an old-time Alanis Morissette and Helena Bonham Carter lookalike in the same blog post. Isn't it ironic creepy?

I hope it's alright to post our own on topic work.
A few years ago I went through a lil' contortion obsession. I was in dance classes when I was little. I was never very good and never as flexible as the other girls. I was extremely jealous of them!
I'm not proud of this work anymore, but at the time it was fun.

I hope it's alright to post our own on topic work.

But of course! It's encouraged! Particularly when the work is as endearing as yours - I love these pieces!

You know, funny enough I have the exact same memories of my ballerina phase. If it wasn't for my German ballet teacher bending and twisting us into shape, I'd never have made it. His "pain brings pleasure" slogan always sounded a bit like a welcome to a concentration camp.  Confused

I really love those images, lizzelizzel!  Hope you post more of your own work here.

Thanks for the Urban Spaces vid, Suzanne.  Reminds me of old Pilobolus.
