Hi!

I was looking into Otaku culture for my painting major next year and wondered if anyone knew more about it.

Unnfortunately it meant that I found out about the Otaku murderer and the awful things that he did so I can't really look at Manga the same way again.

I think that as far as I can see, Otaku culture covers all the nerdy Japanese culture from Manga to videogames that the nerds covet, even here in Australia from the Evangelion stuff right through to the posters.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had some insights into it

There is an elaborate documentation by Jean-Jacques Beineux ("Betty Blue", "Diva") on this topic called Otaku. It's from 1994 though.
