As a compensation for my repost and because it reminded me of this: Medusa - a female monster loaded with erotic symbolism - with hair og live snakes, turning men to stone by her gaze and finally decapiteted by Perseus - a subject interpreted by a number og artist...

Caravaggio

Böcklin

Franz Stuck

These two above reminds me a lot of Giger:

Rubens - almost as stilleben composition

Bernini - exposes also the sadness of the character

The starsign Perseus including, which is not as much about Perseus, as it is about Medusas evil eye - Algol, the ghoul star.

Perseus by Cellini

the severed body up close, blood spraying from the neck:

...which leads nicely on to Dali, who apparently really had a thing with Medusa:

and

and

and

finally Medusa, not as female monster, but then again - a monstrous historical shipwreck, leading to cannibalism amongst the survivors: The Shipwreck of Medusa

Here the original - [url+http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Raft_of_the_Medusa]Le Radeau de la Méduse[/url] by Théodore Géricault:

Always at thy service, miss Suzanne    prostrate  Whirling Sorcerer

... it was a fun subject to dig in to. But it struck me that there weren't really any contemporary examples. Have the classics been all but forgotten...

I love the academic proportions of your research! sherlock

Hmm.. that's interesting and concerning that you mention the lack of contemporaries who tackle the subject. But as a matter of fact, my bf has recently mentioned that he wants to construct a Medusa cryptid of some sort in the near future. I'll keep you posted!

Maybe not a very "erotic" haircut at a first glance, but definitely rather risqué considering the epoch...

Why don't you grace this item with a photo of your lovely long hair, Ms. Wurzel Tod?  Please?

*cough*

 Embarassed

FIY: That's partly a hairpiece with the same length as my real hair, i.e. the light purple highlights are artificial.

beautiful, beautiful hair. your curls are delicious! i love this self-portrait.

my own hair was that long until only recently.. (the split ends told me it was time for a trim, woe). but i always keep some length!
