WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania authorities say a man who ignored verbal warnings and was pepper sprayed -- was then shot and killed after he attacked a state trooper with a chainsaw.
The trooper was injured on the shoulder, lower back and buttocks.
Police said 40-year-old William Henkle had called 911 and said he was having a heart attack. But when police and an ambulance arrived, he was outside the house in Wilkes-Barre with a chainsaw running.
State and local officers formed a semi-circle around Henkle and ordered him to drop it. A state police captain said Henkle revved the saw and refused to put it down.
Police said they used pepper spray, then opened fire when Henkle lunged at a trooper. Henkle was hit by at least 13 bullets.
